c.1960 Superman, Chrome-Plated Die Cast Metal Figure

I recently found this awesome chrome plated die cast metal Superman at a local antique shop. Although I have a fairly extensive reference library I couldn't find anything about it. Nor could I find anything on the Internet. I believe that it was produced during the early 1960's as a trophy, or maybe a car hood ornament.

Regardless of its back ground it's a fantastic rendering of the Man of Steel. Facial features, chest emblem, flowing cape.....it's not missing a thing and every part of it has a high gloss mirrored finish.

The only markings I could find were stamped onto the front of the left leg just above the ankle. I'm not sure if I could make it all out because some of it wasn't completely stamped. But I think it's "TJL & DC Comics (s04)". DC Comics is self explanatory. TJL is "The Justice League". I don't know what s04 means (sulfate?).

Size: 6". Weight: just over a pound!

Sold: May, 2008

Price Sold: $ 111
