1940 Supermen of America Contest Prize Ring
Issued by DC Comics and promoted in both Superman and Action Comics there are believed to be only 22 of these rings in existence. To "apply" for the ring initially required becoming a member of the Supermen of America Club. Specific requirements must then be met to even send away for the application blank. Inscribed Supermen of America Member it was also believed to have been given away with candy and gum programs, but it's not known for sure. The ring is all metal with silver base, gold luster finish, and red enamel coloring around the lettering and chest logo. Embossed on one side of the ring is the planet Krypton. The other side features two lightning bolt. Ring is adjustable by manually opening and closing the diameter of the enclosure. As of July, 2012 it remains the only example I've seen. Sold: Dec. 2005
