c.1946 Streamline Toy Co., Mechanical Aluminum Fighter Plane in Original Box

From the original owner comes the realistically designed WWII fighter plane. Completely made from stamped aluminum with Alcoa trademarks on the underside of the fuselage. It comes complete with its original box plus assembly instructions, Air Corp insignia decal sheet, motor instructions, and even its original sheet of sandpaper! The toy has never been assembled. I laid it together for my photographs, but none of the clips were fastened.

The toy was manufactured by the Streamline Toy Company, Philadelphia, PA. I've found this airplane only once prior with its original box. I could find no information about the company. The toy is actually a complex model which moves along the floor using a spring wound motor. The exterior surfaces are all brightly polished while the interior surfaces were left dull. The propeller spins freely, but it's not mechanically driven. It has an attached key.

The original box was printed in red and blue over a white background. The colors have darkened with age, but everything is still clear and readable. A separate yellow sticker indicating that the kit includes a "Genu-Wind Motor" was applied to both sides of the box. One end is still factory sealed. It also has a terrific illustration of the Fighter.  The instructions are well detailed and are also illustrated. The little square of paper shown in the photo below is the sandpaper sheet which was to be used to smooth out the rough edges.

Size: 10" wingspan, 9" fuselage.
